BRAINERD -- The Ridgewater women's basketball team broke a five-game losing streak with a 52-47 win over Central Lakes on Saturday.

Before Saturday, Ridgewater's last victory came against Central Lakes in Willmar on Jan. 11.

"This was good for our confidence," said Ridgewater head coach Carrie Ogdahl. "You kind of forget what that feels like."

Ridgewater improved to 2-5 in the MCAC Southern Division and 5-14 overall. The Warriors play Rochester in Willmar on Wednesday.

Against Central Lakes, the Warriors led most of the half but a 10-0 run to close the half gave Central Lakes a three-point halftime lead.

But Ridgewater regained the lead about midway through the second half and held on.

"When we got the lead back, we hit some shots, hit some free throws," Ogdahl said. "We played well."

Annie Winter scored 17 points and Cameo McNeley scored 11. Winter also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Shantel Kelly was limited to 8 points but had 5 rebounds.
