Women's basketball: Warriors miss the mark, lose to Jays

WILLMAR — It’s hard to win games shooting less than 25 percent even when your knocking them down at the charity stripe.
Bolting to a 36-20 lead by halftime, Minnesota West grabbed a MCAC South victory at Ridgewater College 65-50 on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors shot 22 percent from the floor (13-59) so even 88 percent accuracy at the free throw line (21 of 24) could not bail them out.
Tiffany Gehl with 25 points and Lindsey Drooger 21 led the scoring for the Bluejays (7-2, 16-6). Six-foot center Katey Granstra supplied 15 rebounds and blocked four shots.
Lyndsey Runke finished with 17 points, a dead-eye 9 of 9 at the foul line and her four field goals were the most by a Warrior. Raeann Sorenson and Courtney Kramer added 9 and 8 points, respectively.
RC (3-5, 13-8) is off to Austin on Wednesday to play Riverland Collge.
