Women's basketball: Warriors too much for Fond du Lac

WILLMAR — The Ridgewater women’s basketball team had an easy night against a Fond du Lac team lacking any bench players on Friday at the Ridgewater College gym.
The Warriors jumped out to a 16-point first-half lead against the Thunder and kept up the pace in the second half, winning 75-42.
“The girls did a nice job,” said Warriors head coach Carrie Ogdahl. “It’s kind of tough to play games like this but all the girls contributed.”
The Warriors, who are now 5-2, play Central Lakes at 1 p.m. today at Ridgewater.
Fond du Lac had a couple of players miss the game and suited up just five, who had to play all 40 minutes.
“They have some good players,” Ogdahl said. “A couple of their players we had a tough time stopping. They just got tired.”
Ridgewater forced 24 turnovers and turned them into 27 points compared to FDL’s 6. The Warriors only outrebounded the Thunder by five board but still had 20 second-chance points compared to the Thunder’s 2.
Raeann Sorenson played well, leading the Warriors with 20 points, and she had 7 rebounds.
Courtney Kramer hit 9 of 12 field goals and finished with 18 points and 6 boards. Jessica Kalenberg had 7 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and a pair of steals.
Lynsey Runke had 9 points, 6 boards, 6 assists and 3 steals.
All eight Warriors played at least 17 minutes and seven scored.
