Women's basketball: Warriors top Norsemen

WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater Warriors followed up a win in the their season opener with a 58-47 victory over Mesabi Range on Saturday at the Ridgewater Classic in Willmar.

The Warriors improved to 2-0 and the Norsemen fell to 2-2.

Ridgewater built a slim lead early and went into the half leading 28-25, but pulled away late, outscoring Mesabi Range 30-22 in the second half.

Raeann Sorenson, a freshman wing out of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, led the Warriors with 13 points and 2 steals.

Hector native Jessica Kalenberg had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, and Cameo McNeley added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Essa Jacobsen paced the Norsemen with 17 points and 15 rebounds.

The Warriors next play the North Dakota State College of Science on Tuesday in Willmar.
