Women's College Basketball: Warriors open MCAC schedule with big road win over Rochester

ROCHESTER — Four Warriors scored in double figures and the Ridgewater women’s basketball team won its MCAC opener 79-58 over Rochester on Saturday.

The Warriors improved to 8-4 overall.

“This is a very good start for us,” said Warriors head coach Carrie Ogdahl. “Rochester is a very good team so to get a win against them on the road is great.”

Ridgewater shot almost 50 percent from the field and built a 13 lead by halftime.

Raeann Sorenson led the Warriors with 18 points and Courtney Kramer, Brooke Wuertz and Rachel Ampe all scored 17 points.

The Warriors outrebounded Rochester 49-35, with Ampe leading the team with 9. Sorenson also had 3 assists and 3 steals.

The Warriors return home to play Minnesota West at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Ridgewater College gym.
