WILLMAR — The Build-a-Burger tent was open for business on Thursday through the cold, windy afternoon in the Cash Wise Foods parking lot in Willmar as a part of the 30th annual Dairy Days.

The Willmar FFA and Railsiders 4-H clubs ran the tent on Thursday and a different group will open it again from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

One cheeseburger, a milk carton and cookie costs $3; ice cream sandwiches are 50 cents each. Condiments are available to add on as desired.

While the adult leaders and high school students supervised and grilled the burger patties, the younger members of the clubs had a great time taking and preparing the orders, preparing the cookies for sale and delivering the food and drinks to the customers.

The annual fundraiser earns money for the clubs’ future endeavors like community service projects, the angel mitten tree project and fun trips that the clubs take every other summer.

Dairy Days continue throughout the month of June. Starting at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday there will be a KWLM road show west of Pennock at the Gary and Julie and Paul and Kali Beckman farm.

At 7:05 p.m. on June 24, the Willmar Stingers baseball game will be “Salute to the Cows Night” at Bill Taunton Stadium and will include seven live cows.

Capping off dairy days from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 27, a dairy cattle show will be held at the Kandiyohi County Fairgrounds in Willmar.
