Wrestling: Area wrestlers have strong state showing with 21 medals

ST. PAUL -- In a strong showing at the individual portion of the four-day state wrestling tournament, 21 of the area's 42 wrestlers came back with a medal, including six state champions (see Page B-2).

Winning third-place matches on Saturday at Xcel Energy Center were: Hayden Rouser of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 112 pounds, Cody Goldschmidt of BOLD at 135, Casey Field of Yellow Medicine East at 140, Micah Larson of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 171 and Brian Anderson of Redwood Valley at 189.

Austen Cole of Yellow Medicine East at 119 pounds, Jake Bothun of Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley at 140, Aaron Zimmer of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg at 145, John Nething of New London-Spicer at 160, Thomas Uttermark of MACCRAY and Evan Stock of Yellow Medicine East at 215 were all fourth this season. Earning fifth-place medals were Collin Jergenson of Minnewaska Area at 152 pounds, Billy Dean of New London-Spicer at 152 and Brad Kneisl of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg at 215. Brandon Manderschied of Minnewaska Area placed sixth at 189 pounds.
