KERKHOVEN -- Six pins fueled Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Thursday to a 55-7 win over BOLD in the Section 3A quarterfinals.


KMS, the No. 3 seed, will meet No. 2 Wabasso/Red Rock Central, which beat RCW/MACCRAY 64-6, at 1 p.m. in the semifinals Saturday at the YME High School in Granite Falls. The championship match is scheduled to follow at 2:30 p.m. No. 1 Minneota and No. 5 Canby meet in the other semifinal.

RCW/MACCRAY beat Ortonville 67-12 to reach the quarterfinals. No details were provided at press time on RCW/MACCRAY's two matches.

Jordan Engler at 106, Lamberto Rodriguez at 126, Jordon Rothers at 170, Alex Mond at 195, Austin Rothers at 220 and Issac Froehlich at 285 earned pins for KMS.

BOLD's lone points came from Brett Grund's major decision at 132 and Sean Weibel's decision at 182.

Yellow Medicine East won the first five matches to take a 25-0 lead that held up and lifted them into the quarterfinals to face Minneota. After Isaac Rillo opened the dual with a pin at 106, the Sting later got pins from Zach Fischer at 145, Ted Refsland at 170 and Cody Bossman at 195.

Collecting pins for Benson was Ben Lundebrek at 138, Sam Carruth at 160 and Cody Buenaventura at 220.
