Wrestling: Wildcats fall to Foley in section final

LITCHFIELD -- New London-Spicer defeated Becker to reach the Section 6AA wrestling finals but fell to an old foe, Foley, in the championship match Friday at Litchfield High School.

Foley defeated the Wildcats 39-14 to earn a state tournament berth.

The Wildcats defeated Becker 39-31 in the semifinals while Foley earned its finals berth with a 67-6 win over Litchfield. Foley won eight of 14 matches by fall and four of those came under one minute.

NLS' Tanner Tobkin won his 100th career match in the semifinals, a 10-1 victory over Becker's Grant Kinck at 182 pounds.

Tobkin also was one of three Wildcats to claim wins against Foley, moving up to 195 pounds to down Class AA's No. 8-ranked Tony Kipka 5-0. Tobkin is now 34-6 this season.

NLS' Ben Henle at 126 pounds and Chase Austvold at 138 pounds also won two matches on Friday.

Henle defeated Foley's Randy Jensen by technical fall, 23-8, and he also downed Becker's Sam Kirchner by technical fall, 22-7. Henle is 13-5 overall.

Austvold won his finals match against Foley Chevy Goble 6-3, and he won a major decision, 14-0 over Becker's Boden Lorette. Austvold is 36-3 this season.
