Yellow Medicine enacts burning ban

GRANITE FALLS -- A burning ban has been issued by Yellow Medicine County Sheriff Bill Flaten.

The ban is effective today and will be lifted when conditions change, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Burning has also been banned in Kandiyohi County by Sheriff Dan Hartog, due to high winds and dry conditions. That ban will also continue until conditions change.

The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch and hazardous weather outlook for southwestern Minnesota counties.
