Yvonne Samyn May 3, 1928 - June 29, 2009
REDWOOD FALLS -- Yvonne Irene Samyn, 81, of Redwood Falls died Monday at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born May 3, 1928, in Passendale, Belgium, to Kamiel and Anna (Menu) Deleye.
She married Georges Samyn on Oct. 4, 1950, in Passendale, Belgium. They lived and worked on the Deleye homestead. In 1952, they immigrated to the United States. They settled in Tracy and farmed until 1957, when they moved to Redwood County where they continued to farm and raise their family. They moved to Redwood Falls in 1985. She worked at the Redwood Falls Hospital, Wood Dale Nursing Home and Wilson's Clothing in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by her five children: Agnes (and Philip) Johanneck of Redwood Falls, Cecelia (and Roger) Hebeisen of Elk River, Monique (and Jim) Olhausen of Willmar, Joel (and Jolene) Samyn of Redwood Falls and Marlene (and Dave) Andresen of Britton, S.D.; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister: Godelieve (and Fernand) Caignie of Passendale, Belgium.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four siblings and two grandsons.
