Milan to kick up its heels for May Day

MILAN -- Folks in the Milan area will be kicking up their heels to celebrate May Day and support the Milan school building.

The Greater Milan Initiative will host the dance in the former school gymnasium from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday.

Jane Link, coordinator of the dance festivities, invites people of all ages to two-step, waltz, polka, swing, or just shuffle to the mellow music provided by Tapper Tunes of Watertown, S.D.

The dance is a "family friendly event," and everyone is welcome, said Link. Those who don't want to dance can enjoy the toe-tapping music.

"We want to share our beautiful facility with our neighbors throughout the region and bring back the fun of the community dance. We hope this will be the first of a series of dances in Milan."

Ticket prices for the dance are $5 for adults, $2 for students, and no charge for children 5 and under. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Refreshments and a cash bar will be available; 320-734-4416.
