'Made in America' concerts set by Prairie Arts Chorale

WILLMAR — The Prairie Arts Chorale presents their fall concert series "Made in America" featuring American composers such as Aaron Copland, Charles Ives, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin.

The concert will include patriotic selections, folk songs, classics and new compositions including "Salute to the Armed Forces," "Johnny Has Gone For a Soldier," "O Magnum Mysterium" and "A Boy and a Girl."

This will be the final season for director John Kleinwolterink of Morris.

Concerts this weekend are at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Bunde Christian Reformed Church, rural Clara City, and 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Marshall.

Next weekend the concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Church of St. Anne in Wabasso, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church and 4 p.m. Nov. 12 at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer.

The Prairie Arts Chorale is a regional choral group in southwestern Minnesota and is open to new singers by audition.

Members of the chorale are sopranos Elaine Hauger of Granite Falls, Becky Hoffman of Bellingham, Lisa Kleinwolterink of Morris, Mary Sue Kruger and June Meyerhoff, both of Montevideo, and Jean Schueller of Marshall.

Singing alto are Marti Carlson of Spicer, Vickie Daub and Marsha Salfer, both of Wabasso, Anna Jeanne Flesner of Tracy, Mary Kay Frisvold of Garvin, Dale Handeen of Montevideo, Cheryl Jeska of Marshall, Tammy Roth of Morris and Sue Selden of Granite Falls.

The tenors are Dick Engelby of Redwood Falls, Bruce Flesner of Tracy, Dick Hauck of Madison, Steve Meyer of Marshal and Ben Pieh of Montevideo.

The basses are Paul Knapper of Renville, Brandon Hurley of Dawson, A. Eric Anderson, Tim Ostby and Ed Rauk, all of Spicer, and Dan Giles, Larry Jeska and Doug Pilgrim, all of Marshall.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, with those 18 or younger admitted free. They are available from Chorale members and in the Tribune area at Thrifty White in Granite Falls, Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer and Cash Wise Foods in Willmar.
