'Greater Tuna' opens tonight at The Barn: Comedy auditions at The Barn
WILLMAR -- The Barn Theatre presents "Greater Tuna" today through Sunday and Feb. 19-22. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with 2:30 p.m. matinees on Sunday.
Two actors, Christopher Myers and Patrick Dokken, create the entire "bigoted, small-minded" panorama of characters of tiny "Greater Tuna," the listening area of local radio station OKKK.
In a tour de farce of quick change artistry, changing costumes and characterizations faster than a jack rabbit runs from a coyote, the two actors provide 20 characters and a barrel of laughs, according to The Barn billing.
Sabrina Rime is the director and stage manager with Mike Rindfleisch as the technical director. Costumes are by Barb Martins and wigs by Cathy Pregler.
The "Tuna Helpers" or dressers, who help with the costume changes, are Louanne Villnow, Connie Heath, Laurie Allen and Sabrina Rime.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for those 18 and under. There is also a Valentine week package available that includes dinner downtown before the show. The box office is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and before each show; 320-235-9500; 321 Fourth St. S.W. in downtown Willmar.
The Barn Theatre will hold auditions for the comedy "Sylvia" at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the theater in downtown Willmar.
"Sylvia" is a romantic comedy about a dog and there are parts for two men and two women. It will be directed by Thom Rosengren. Production dates are April 16-19, 23-26.
