The Kandiyohi County Historical Society "Picture the Past" photo contest is looking for the "best of Kandiyohi County" photos. The winning photos will be turned into postcards.
Photographs may include, but are not limited to: historic sites, outdoor scenes, street scenes, celebrations, cultural events and landmarks. They may be old, new, color, or black and white.
The first place photo will receive $100 with $75 for second and $50 for third place. Entry deadline is 4 p.m. on May 29.
There is a limit of three photographs per household. If entrants are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign the entry form.
Submit entries online or mail to them with completed entry form to Kandiyohi County Historical Society, 610 Highway 71 NE, Willmar, MN 56201.

Willmar, Sept. 19, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Celebrate Art! Celebrate Coffee! will feature an emerging artists tent again this year. Participation is free but based on a recommendation of an art instructor, mentor or parent. The emerging artist may sell or just display their art at the festival. Application deadline is July 1. The seventh annual Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance photo contest for amateur photographers is accepting photos through 5:30 p.m. June 10. Photographers may submit one unframed and unmatted photograph, either 4 by 6 or 8 by 10, per category. Photos should be mailed to PRCA, 630 Atlantic Ave., Morris. MN 56267. There is no entrance fee.
Prizes will be awarded in five categories: global community, the natural world, future generations, the wetlands and red. For the wetlands category, photos taken in waterfowl production areas and especially photos taken from the photographers blind at the Morris Area wetland are welcomed.
All photos will be displayed at the Prairie Renaissance Cultural Center in Morris beginning June 17. A judge will select three winners in each category and the public will vote for the best of show between June 17 and July 11. Winners will be announced after July 11 on the PRCA Website.
