WILLMAR — “The Great Christmas Light Fight” will be returning this holiday season on ABC and will feature Chad and Angie Koosman’s annual “Celebrate the Light of the World” Christmas lights display north of Willmar.

The third season of the holiday decorating competition will premiere at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, on ABC. It features families and neighborhoods from across America decorating their homes to the extreme for Christmas. The competition boasts a total of $300,000 in prizes ($50,000 per episode) that is up for grabs.

There will be back-to-back episodes airing each night, Dec. 7, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21. It is not clear yet exactly which night the Koosman’s display will be featured.

For years the Koosman’s display has been used to raise money for the Salvation Army and thousands visit the light display annually throughout the holiday season.

Fundraising

On Friday, Chad Koosman will be locked inside the revolving door at Cash Wise Foods in Willmar at 10 a.m. and will need the public to bail him out. Bond is set at $2,000.

The public can sign up to ring the bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign. For every bell ringer that signs up to do a shift, an anonymous donor will give $10 to the Salvation Army. Koosman is hoping to be able to raise the $2,000 on Friday with people signing up to be bell ringers.
