ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Senate has voted to override Gov. Tim Pawlenty's veto of a bill maintaining an expiring state health care plan for 30,000 low-income adults.

Thursday's 45-21 vote along party lines sends the plan to the House, where Democrats would need to attract some Republican support to meet the override threshold.

The vote comes amid ongoing talks between legislative health experts and the Pawlenty administration about a way to reshape the General Assistance Medical Care program.

Democratic Sen. Linda Berglin says she hopes the negotiations will be successful but can't count on it.

Next week, a state agency will begin transferring people from the expiring health plan to another program with more barriers to staying enrolled and less generous hospital coverage.
