Smith is the daughter of Sam and Norma Smith of Renville.
She is a 2002 graduate of Renville County West High School in Renville and a 2008 graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks with a degree in nursing. She is employed by Banner Health in Glendale, Ariz., as a registered nurse.
Widmer is the son of Ralph and Mary Widmer of Watertown.
He is a 1998 graduate of Watertown-Mayer High School in Watertown, a 2001 graduate of Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis with a degree in electrical construction and maintenance and a 2006 graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks with a degree in criminal justice. He is employed by the United States Air Force as an F-16 pilot.
