MINNEAPOLIS - Rain combined with snowmelt is increasing the flood threat in towns across central and southern Minnesota.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch and flood warnings for some towns along the Minnesota and Crow rivers.
In Delano west of Minneapolis, the Crow is expected to crest Tuesday at its fourth-highest level on record.
Delano City Administrator Phil Kern says city officials are worried about how ice jams would affect the river level. But he tells the Star Tribune that the city is "pretty confident" it can handle the high water.
In Montevideo, the Minnesota River is forecast to rise 8 feet by next Thursday. That's 9 feet below the 1997 record, but City Manager Steve Jones says Montevideo officials are "preparing for the food of '97 anyway."
