Did you know there are some 73 manufacturing firms in Kandiyohi County, and 234 in our seven-county region of Minnesota? “Made with Pride … in West Central Minnesota” is the theme of the West Central Tribune’s annual Focus edition, publishing today. The advertising and editorial staff have been working since early February to put together three Focus sections that do just that – focus on firms manufacturing/making products right here in our own backyard.

Shock illusionist brings his work home to west central Minnesota 
In searching out entertainment for a Watercade fundraiser, organizers decided to go with one of their own.
Shock illusionist Dan Sperry — a 2003 graduate of Litchfield High School — will take the stage tonight at Bernie Aaker Auditorium, 114 N. Holcombe Ave., in Litchfield. Show time is 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 per person and will be available at the door, based on availability. All proceeds go toward the general fund for financing the city’s summer Watercade festival July 7-10, 2011.

Tell the Tribune: As part of the economic stimulus package passed by Congress earlier this year, workers are starting to see a few extra dollars in their paychecks. The actual amount varies according to earnings, retirement contributions and the like, but for many it appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 per week.
