Readers-I ask again what logical reason does Mayor Heitke, Councilmen Gardner, Reese, Anderson & DeBlieck have to promote this low-income congregrate project? There will be less tax revenue for our whole city since the three landowners who are residents of Willmar have refused or pulled their plans because of Westwind. There are other options to provide additional low-incoming housing (example: rehabilitate existing homes) that would be an asset (more low-income housing available, aethetic improvement to the neighbor, integration versus segregation, tax dollars saved versus spent, and very important create harmony & peace versus division & hostility). Please readers: WHAT IS THEIR MOTIVATION TO SUPPORT THIS PROJECT THAT WILL SERVE A SMALL NUMBER OF OUR RESIDENTS AT THE COST OF THE MAJORITY OF US????????

Steve G. & Ben C. You ask for truth and it is right in front of your eyes just like it was available at the council meeting where Gardner, Reese, Anderson & DeBlieck voted for the Conditional Use Permir, which brought it to Mayor Heitke breaking the tie vote to get it approved. The SWMHP has lied and the documents (one example: the Planning & Zoning Commission minutes versus the Grant Application) are out there to prove it and you know it. Steve T the more you write, it is more apparent that you are Steve G using an alias. Why a resident from Blomkest takes the time to defend a Willmar project that doesn't directly impact them is suspicious, no matter how interested they are in government. Your excuses (discrimination and the need for low-income housing)that lack credibility to support this project are identical to Gardner. You amazingly have the same style of delivering your arguments. Coincidence? I don't think so Steve G.

Beth if you are refering once again to me, and trying to suggest that I am Gardner like Marie has, I will tell the same as I told her. YOU LIE! Beth you use a lot of the same lines as Mr. Christianson, should I assume you are in fact he? Geez people! Some of you need to really grow up. Brian I have seen the same statments made about this project, that it is geared for low - middle income people. What you will hear from people though is that they believe that this is a lie. They talk about some application form, yet I have yet to have anyone explain what the application form is for.

To me it sounds like Steven is the only one doing research on the information being presented to see if it's accurate and false.

Al, I believe you are correct the homes your talking about are within blocks of were Westwinds is located. Also, way is everyone stuck on Low-income housing - Westwinds was intended for Low AND Middle income families. I believe a family of 4 could make a little over $35,000 and be eligible for a unit. This could be a couple with 2 children each working 40 hrs/wk @ $8.00/hr = $33,280.00. The real problem is that jobs in Willmar don't pay enough.

Nice point Ben. Taking the specific project out of the mix and looking only at the statments that have been made about the organization lying and deceiving, and targeting a certain religious group, it is these comments that some are finding offensive outside this particular project. This group has done good things in the Willmar community already, this is going unnoticed by some. It is too bad that half truths are alowed to linger out there, and when it comes to the council table clarifiying questions are ignored and denied.

Joe you are exactly what I mean. Did I ever say the projects were the same? No. I merely was sharing what others are saying about the comments that lack facts about the integrity of the organization. You sir should get your facts straight!

First off I don't agree with tax payers dollar's going for this project, but I'm just wondering with everyone pumping up Councilman Christianson I'm just kinda of curious how many houses in Willmar area that his company has built for the program FMHA? Wasn't that program low-income housing at one time? If westwind was his own company's project would there be this much disagreement over this.
