...and the three councilmembers who walked out on a meeting are hailed as 'heroic'? Check your double standards at the door.

Ms Diaz if you want to talk about rasism, lets talk. 30 years ago when I moved to Willmar I moved all my belongings in a backpack and 3 medium sized cardboard boxes. I went to work woked hard and did not apply for any welfare assistance. Just as I was getting on my feet I had a serious back injury not allowing me to work for some time. I lived off my savings and changed professions, again no welfare assistance. 13 years ago I had a serious heart attack, again people told me to get help from the county, again I lived on my savings and changed professions. I will help anyone today but I REFUSE to help people that won't work or take care of the things they have, no matter what race they are. Ms Diaz if you weren't running around playing the race card, you would be out of a job and so would the developers of this project. I say no to this debackle until you can drive around Willmar and clean up the low income housing we allready have. Look at it most are a Shambles with junk all over.

SO, lets see there are lots of houses for sale in willmar and surrounding area lots that are below $100,000. So why do we need more. The majority of them are older, but how cheap can you build a house nowadays. I do not live near this propossed site but feel that there would be a better location. Maybe this would not be an issue if certain politicians etc are in the building trade.

Ms, Diaz has absoultly no credibilty after her statement last week at Ridgewater...does she live in a different city? I guess we are now building housing for undocumented canadaians...because you know there are "probably more of them..." this is laughable and so very sad. I find it interestiing the paper only used pro comments, apparently no one spoke opposing this project. None of this is suprising, the city council has a long history of not necessarily listening to the voice of the citizens of Willmar...seems like it will continue to be this way until the people get mad enough to vote these people out. However, I feel that on some level we are still being left out of the loop on this project and one way or another we will have it shoved down our throats.

Why does Willmar want to build a "ghetto within their city?" Have they done their homework to see what has happened in other communities that have built congregate living like is being proposed? The mayor seems to have an attitude that if you don't play my way you can't play with my ball. So sad. That is not what is wanted in an elected official.
