Joel, I would encourage you to watch the July 17th council meeting on line at the city website. The head of the housing group talks about the lease option that allows for people to get into these townhomes and for 15 years make lease payments. After 15 years they can obtain a mortgage for roughly $75,000. Thats how these are affordable.

i personally don't think anyone is opposed to helping people find affordable housing. but why not help them move into existing houses in established neighborhoods. why segregate them to an area known as the poor peoples housing addition. also a 200k house is not a low income home

The personal comments here sound those old AWA wrasslin' shows with Jesse the The Body yelling about Verne Gagne with Mean Gene Okerlund being the moderator(also known as wctrib.com). "we'll see you this Sunday at the St. Paul Civic Center..oh my.......what a match you'll see" All we need is some wrasslin' nicknames for some of you.

Jay I don't think the truth matters to some these people. Why not join them? Joyce is Cindy Swenson and Dan J is Ron Christianson. Wow telling lies can be fun!

My last point Rachel should have read, "Hey I think that the Mayor...." Sorry for the typo.

Oh Rachel that is where you are dead wrong! I firmly disagreed with the city on their not seeking the Fibromin opportunity a few years back. And I also disagree with their decision to allow that pellet plant to be built out near a school, growing housing development and MinnWest. I think how they have failed to handle the storm water situation is also awful. He think that the Mayor needs to show some consistancy as I agree with an earlier poster about the issue with allowing and not allowing applause.

Well, I hate to desert the place, but I have a job to go to in the morning. I look forward to the Willmar City Council meeting aka Willmar's Monday Night Bible Study lead by Pastor Steve Gardner and Bishop Les Heitke.
