Ron, I have a very nice house here in New London Township. I might have some family that would be interested. Are you worried I might ruin your city.

At least Christianson, Swenson, Dokken, & Fagerlie will stay at the meeting until it is adjourned. They will not get to take their toy's and play in another room.

Dan J. - You are only one of 18,000+ people in Willmar, yet you speak in generalizations about what the whole city doesn't want. For the past several months it has been a lot of the same people commenting on this issue. That leaves a whole lot of people out there who may not see things the way you do.

Dan what exactly in your opinion was missing? How exactly did this group mislead Willmar? Would you please explain that point?

I here all a lot of people say Willmar doesnt need more low income housing but how many of you are low income looking for housing ?.....its impossible to find housing you can afford plus if you buy a home you are not able to get help with your house payment your only option is renting where you can afford.....

I am for the low income housing. There's plenty of low income housing all around Willmar, and it hasn't affected property values. I think that all the white crowd over in that area if afraid of having the brown and black crowd move in. Which is so obvious when I read all of the hateful remarks left by some in our community everytime a story breaks involving hispanics or blacks. Why don't those who don't appreciate cultural diversity move to a small minded town around Willmar... because let me let you know a little secret, THINGS ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE. Willmar is going to continue to grow and pretty soon the hispanic community is likely not to be the minority anymore as it's happened in so many other communities. The hispanic race is the fastest growing population in the US.

Your right Beth this shouldn't be about race it should be about the fact that 11 moderate income families would have the chance to buy a new home in this development. It should be about the opportunity that would be created for 11 low income families to purchase a quality home/townhome that they can own and not have to live in rundown rental property. Check out the organizations website and see for yourself what is planned. Yes Beth lets take race out of it, but lets also present the truth about this project and that is those who would qualify to buy would be young teachers, police officers, department store managers, those with entry level jobs at MINN West Technology, those who recently retired, as well as line workers at Jenny-O and Willmar Poultry.

The mayor election doesn`t come around again until 2011. Thats a long time for him to screw up Willmar even more then he has now.

Anyone who says or insinuates that other cultures are the only bad neighbors NEEDS to rent my townhome. White 19-year-olds next door puking in the wee a.m. hours, parking all over the place, and throwing pop, beer, and water containers on MY side of the yard. I'd rather have a nice Somali or Hispanic family next door that has a couple of kids who are considerate of my work hours (day, mind you). I, like many, am at about median income but have tons of debt to offset my income. Further, this project may be a "new" twist, but the company has operated in other communities. What is their operation history? How are they received in the communities? I think that is important to know instead of just bashing SWMHP. P.S. did anyone know that the new townhomes by the Y are $1200 a month? That's more than ONE of my paychecks! Aren't those Christianson's?
