Dan J, I have been at several of the council meetings and watched the ones missed by Video. Tell me EXACTLY what you feel has been misrepresented by SWMHP. Joe R, when the original plan was for homeownership the people you are talking about (working people) would have been many of the residents living there. As indicated at the council meeting on Jan 22nd 6 households could actually earn up to $55,000 (2007 - 80% income limit); 22 lease to own (60% income limit) - target would be low to middle income; and 6 Supportive Housing with project based assistnace (60% income limit) - this would be the homeless target.

When do people start helping themselves and stop relying on so many government/other handouts?

Dan J - what information do you feel wasn't presented to the City Council as stated in your earlier post?

Your point is well taken Greg, and if you work and make over a certain amount of income you qualify for whatever a bank sees fit in regards to housing. Meanwhile for other programs you get no help whats so ever! It would be nice to see affordable housing for working people who have a family and have held a full time job for 5 years or more, and are stable in their lives. Half the time some of the tenants that qualify for low income housing are having friends, and relatives move in with them. The inside of some of the properties I have viewed were disgusting. Broken cabinets, broken screens, and screen doors, and rugs totally destroyed. Pretty soon more undesirables enter those areas and unless you have security the place turns into others just like what we already have seen.

Funny Jerry I don't understand as a person with no Willmar tie, why you would be so against this and to lie about this being "crammed down their throats". What is your beef with the organization? This group has a much better reputation throughout this region than our current City Council does! I would encourage you to read more about the MANY programs that this organization does, because clearly based on your response, you have no clue as to what is really being made available through this and other programs and services of the SWMHP.

Ron C. I have lived in Kandiyohi County all my life and grew up and graduated from Willmar High many, many years ago. This BS about race and or economic stature in Willmar is not new. This is the reason the county is seeing growth and Willmar is holding it's own. My first comment was about the childish way that the council handles it's business. Both sides are playing with the rules to gain an advantage and in the long run there will be no dialog and a one side will be bitter.

People look at the requirements for ownership that this partnership REQUIRES of all owners. It specificly deals with care and maintance of ones property, show me an other home loan that requires that?! For those here who want to blame the supporters of this project for making this about race I direct your attention to tanya s. comments here. If that is not about race I don't know what is! By the way tanya do you know who actually owns those properties? How many are rental units that are not taken care of by their owners? Steven you make a good point to Dan J. Will you answer those questions posed to you Dan by both Steven and John S? Finally to Jane N. I hope that when those who have falsely accussed Steven T of being Steve Gardner come out, you will stand with myself and Jay C who know for a fact that he is NOT Steve Gardner.

You're right, Kelly. If you put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig. And what will people (I don't care what race they are) who haven't taken care of their property yet will do when given a new house. Are you willing to pay the lost value of the property in that area if it does go down?
