Larry the experience Bush had when he took office didn't seem to do him a lick of good. Had he thought more on dads lines, maybe we wouldn't still be fighting in the middle east, and our economy would not be wrecked. So much for your logic Larry, it doesn't stand up to theory and its another one of your contradictions as well as a crutch your using to try and prove a point. Palin might have been the governor of Alaska population 680,000, I could have been a governor there and probably have done a good job as well that doesn't mean I would be VP material! Larry she was no where near being VP material, because she lacked a basic knowledge of her own parties politics. Her husband seemed to be more in charge then she was. Read the article over her troubles involving her brother-in-law. Palin also failed to listen to McCain's campaign staffers and she kept up negative attacks on Obama, which added to the downfall of the McCain camp. Now Palin is all about political gain, and feels being governor of Alaska is holding her back, she needs to broaden her back ground., and more power to her, but don't try and convince us Larry that she was ready to be a VP. She was used as a pawn to counter the Democrats who had a well rounded Hillary who could be a front runner for the party in 2012, which gave the party somewhat of an edge.

Harold you don't think that your party favorite of moral crusaders didn't do the same thing? The difference Harold was your party used whatever their lawyers could find to try and black ball Obama in public with malicious, and desperate measures to win the election at any cost, even if you have to embellish, and lie to reach the golden prize, right Harold? Whatever Obama may have found he didn't use them against Palin, he stuck to the issues which seem to have escaped your closed mind. The media was the ones who got a hold of Palins political problems. Your logic escapes me Harold, because we could easily say Clinton owned the media, but it didn't stop his dirty secrets he was hiding from being made public. .Also the recession you spoke about during the Clinton era was actually at the end of Bush seniors era, when he went against his famous saying "read my lips no more taxes" that he needed to raise to pay for the war, which is why he didn't get re-elected. The Gulf war was about protecting our interests and keeping Saddam from seizing more power in the Middle East. Bush Sr was somewhat smarter then his son, because he knew going into Iraq to topple Saddam would come at a very high price, which was very smart on his part, and he listened to those who knew the real score! I get my information from the history channel as well as Google Harold, and it just so happened they were talking about all of our presidents last night, which were the good and bad with both parties leaders. Oh wait, I know what your going to say, the History channel is a liberal channel, funded by Obama and the Democrats.

For 8 years our cup definitely runneth over with bushisms, Larry. I guess you're just going to have to figure out how to choke down the next four (at least) years. I just don't happen to think that Palin is the spoonful of sugar we all need.

Well, Bob - if I were running for, or held an elected office - and especially if I were putting myself out there as a VP (or potential presidential) candidate - I would expect that my personal life would be gone over with a fine-toothed comb, and all sorts of ridiculas stories would circulate. I would expect that there would be a country full of people with an opinion about my worthiness and ability to do the job. I would also expect that, as a political figure, the kind of opinions and press coverage I'm given would be the same as it is for my male counterparts... my skin would need to be just as thick... and I would not expect to have more "compassion and understanding" for my situation (whatever that may be) than my male counterparts. We sure don't sit around and debate how Obama must feel about the level of scrutiny, or how Tim P. must feel about it... so why is there debate about how Sarah Palin must feel about it? She doesn't get slack because she's a girl, Bob - she's a politician, and her gender should have no consideration. Honestly - should Palin achieve the growth she needs down the road, I may reconsider my opinion - but, as of today she isn't ready for the oval office. -- As it is, I prefer my "faceless, behind the tree" position... which is why I'm not running for office. ;)

Carie L., never said poor Sarah - just asked if the same thing happened to you, how would you react and feel about baseless attacks and frivolous accusations? You seem to ignore the supposition but go on to defend your "opinion". I just have to point out, in comparison, she was a Governor and you are just a faceless, behind the tree, poster from Granite Falls, MN with a "critical" opinion. :<)

Ok, ok - upon further consideration, Larry - I will concede: Bush probably knew what he was talking about... it's the rest of us that had a problem decifering his "bushisms". ;)

Bob K - Now we're supposed to say "poor Sarah" because she's been "picked on" and a victim to the rumor mill?? What??? Calm down man - Mrs. Palin has a tougher skin than you give her credit for... even I realize that. Why is it that when a pretty woman appears to have been slighted, men will jump up to defend her honer...even if it's not actualy needed, or even if the spotlight she's in comes with her job? All I've said is that Palin is NOT ready to be President of this country... and, yes, I made a comment about her turkey pardoning fiasco. If the reason that it's ok for Palin to have quit her job is because she's been picked on too much, and she needs to curl up and lick her wounds for a while... then, sorry, but that only reaffirms my opinion. Part of politics is taking the heat that comes with the job - you expect that the men who hold office can handle it... why not Sarah Palin? I don't think she is unprepared for the office of President because her personal life is complicated - I think she is unprepared because she lacks experience. No amount of "cutting her some slack" will provide her the experience she needs to hold the office of President. And guess what, Bob? I get to have that opinion... and, that opinion does not "pick" on your precious Sarah. Take a breath, man.

for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reaps. She sowed nasty, she is getting nasty back. She ran for office , knowing it was a certain length term, now that means nothing. Another great example for our children. Quit anytime you want, its the american way.

Someone older folks remember, Jimmy Dean, once said "no one ever went further on less talent than me". Sarah is nipping at your heels Jimmy.
