What if he's guilty? I think it's more important to protect a child than an adult, who did resign his position (why would this be necessary if there was no questionable behavior?). It sounds like at the very least, there was something untoward happening.

Michael you have a good point, what if someone is innocent? I saw someone I knew being accused of molesting his young step daughter years ago, and family services interviewed the victim. They pretty much prompted the victim to the point the person was charged. He was sentenced to prison, and served several years until the victim recanted after becoming of age. The mans life was ruined, even though he was cleared, because all people will remember is that you were charged with a sex crime against a child, the lowest thing someone could do. Since those early years, some of the problems coming from interviewing children have been researched and the process has become more reliable, but it doesn't mean that everyone accused is guilty. Now we have DNA, and better ways to get to the truth such as identifing the molesters private parts and looking at other evidence given during interviews. i hope this is a mistake and only a trial will tell all.

I sure hope that the law provides adequate protection to people who have been falsely accused of sex crimes. There needs to be DNA evidence or multiple eyewitnesses or other proof that leaves no room for doubt, otherwise it would take nothing more than a lie from a confused teenager to put an innocent man in prison. If that starts happening then young men are going to be afraid to step into leadership roles in the lives of youth and that would be a tragedy cause Lord knows with how our morals are declining in society our teens are certainly in trouble. I pray that this didn't really happen and that the truth will come out.
