A person doesn't have to be over the legal limit of .08 to be charged with DUI (Driving Under the Influence) or to cause a life changing accident for innocent people. If people are serious about preventing drunk driving accidents they will just not drink and drive! ONE BEER/DRINK with supper may or could impair someone's judgement! Why don't people just understand that they can drink as much as you want, which is legal, but just "DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE"! That's the only way to prevent these accidents. Also another example would be, if someone went out after work and drank too much they certainly could have alcohol in their system the next morning on their way to work. and depending upon how much they drank, they could still be over the legal limit the next morning on their way to work. The human body metabolizes approximately .015% of alcohol per hour. If someone was at .15 BAC after they got home from drinking, it would take approximately 10 hours to get to zero percent alcohol in their system. If they quit drinking at 11pm they would still be over the legal limit at 3am - 4am. So, the average BAC for drunk drivers is .16!!!!! Just DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE. You will save everyone!

I just lost a friend from high school thanks to a repeat drunk driving offender (the crash happened in WI no less). Never have I had so much disgust for another human being than I do for the man that took my friend's life. That disgust has broadened to anyone who drinks excessively and drives a motor vehicle (yes, you can have ONE beer with supper and be ok to drive home, I'm not that much of a teetotaler). You may get home just fine, but that ONE time something horrible happens, you have destroyed the hopes and dreams of parents, friends, children, family, loved ones. No amount of punishment can fit the crime of alcohol- or drug-induced murder by motor vehicle, but having an offender locked up for a very long time is a good start.

Ya know Kathy-you kinda hope alcohol was involved. Can you imagine the chaos this guy could make on the roads if he drove this way sober? Of course, then he would have been picked up much earlier. I'm thankful that he didn't injure anyone else.

At least he was the only one injured. Usually the one at fault is the only one to survive.
