bob d......well then...if it belongs to me......."I decline". Tell them to keep my share of the $1.4 million and stop being so political with their selection process and give it to someone who deserves it.....please grow up for just one minute in your life and stop being so negative with those on this site.

Ah Debbie isn't that the number of the Legion? I didn't know they had an apartment there, I know they have great food, but not an apartment.

"To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace. But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes. That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better." President Barack Obama

Thanks Bob K. I agree that this was too soon. The award should be based on accomplishments only. But, it does allow to give it to people that are in the "process," which they must have felt Obama was in the process. The vote was unanimous in favor of Obama. What we should be wondering is, who was the person that submitted him? ( Maybe it was done for a joke and now the last laugh is on the jokester cause he won.) It sounded like Obama was going to decline but he was told about the other criteria for the award and that he fell into that catagory. He even admits that he should not have been selected. He has some big shoes to fill now that he won this award.

Casey O., no one can blame President Obama. But many do have quesions regarding the Awards Committee as to their gullibility to accept his speeches noting intentions but with the lack of action on his part. He has supported giving up much in his initial quests to appease our enemies, with little or no results, and has alienated our allies. We are being frontal challenged and assaulted with no one at our back to help protect us, which is not good. JMHO.

I'm not even going to attempt to read the some 300+ posts.....but will add my first one now. A true leader would have turned down an award he has done nothing to deserve. Maybe he will do all these things, but 11 days into office I think not. This should not be a political war, there are millions out there doing good work every day.......even at our local level.....that get no attention. He reads typed out speeches......this justifies an award at this level. This will come back to bite him...whether you believe his policies or not....there is nothing worse than accepting an award you do not deserve, and the people know this, regardless of your party affiliation.
