Facebook is a great way to communicate, you can also just make sure your freinds see your status and no one else. There are ways you can set up your security so it's only the people you are friends with can see your information and no one else.

Joe, every piece of technology has it's positives and negatives. Remember when iPods came out and people were freaked because kids had them in school (I was one of them mad about that!). Now, kids have their cell phones with them 24/7. Parents are best off using the technology their kids are using so they can at least try to keep up with what's going on. My son won't "friend" me on FB, but I know that we have enough mutual friends that if something were up or concerning, I will know about it (it's happened). And I have connected with so many "lost" friends that it's just amazing! FB takes down distance barriers and even things like the "ex-family." I have lots of FB friends who are close family to my ex-husband- he & I aren't FB friends, but it's fun to see and hear what his family is up to so I can communicate with my son even more.

This is true Stephanie but what worries me is can perverts get access to this site? I know that Factbook will not connect you with someone you do not know if you don't except them, but there are many people that you might know that have friends as well, and they have friends and so on and so on, and before you know it there are people you don't know wanting to be your friend. Does anyone really know what anyone is like? I don't know what other precautions Facebook uses, but right now I haven't heard anything negative about it, like I have heard on my space. Perspective employers, and current employees do monitor these sites.depending on what job you are applying for.

Facebook is a great tool to reconnect with family and friends. In todays busy lifestyle, it bridges communication gaps between family and friends that may only connect with at holidays, weddings, funerals, class reunions, etc... My favorite feature is veiwing pictures of vacations, babys, birthdays, everyday life, and concerts. It is easy to use and entertaining.
