Craig - a mistake to do nothing at all? You mean as Bush did? Harold doesn't care about people without medical coverage - as long as he's doing fine the world is great. Right now, he really has no idea how much of his tax dollars goes to pay the medical expenses of illegal aliens, his golf buddies' collagen injections, etc. But if its laid out in black and white, and he can see his tax dollars would be spent helping out his fellow-citizens instead of those now abuse the system...well, now...that is simply too much to handle. He's better off being left in the dark.

Howard, I will clarify what I mean. I do not think this is perfect, I don't expect it to be. I do expect it to help the middle class of this country, to help small business provide affordable health care to its employees, I do expect it to relieve the burden of the uninsured somewhat. I do expect it to be revisited until we do get it right. While this, or any other proposal so far, isn't perfect and some may see it as a mistake, I think the overwhelmingly biggest mistake will be to do nothing at all and keep the current system.

Howard, anything that moves us toward a more sane health care system is progress from where we are today.

Kevin E. Kansas City, KS 10/30/2009 10:32 AM, I agree with this comment. Let the details become public, give us our chance to voice our opinion and go from there. I do understand that we elect people to be our voices, but this is for us, not them.

And to the comments on the size of the proposal, what did you expect? You want a 3 page general outline? You complain about things like illegal alien provisions are not clear but when they do get detailed and clear you complain it's too big. It's clear you have no interest in seeing real reform, you're only interested in playing politics with people's health. Sad.

It's amazing how such bitterness prevents anyone from wanting any progress. You assume it should be perfect on the first try but nothing is... as any reasonable person would know. Every good program has started out with flaws and is modified over time. Of course, the GOP sheep that follow the Limbaughs of the world can't seem to figure that out. He has them thinking things are just fine the way they are. http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/health/67378182.html?elr=KArksUUUycaEacyU

Craig - Nice attempt!!! However, John McCain, said the other day, that Harry Reid and the rest of the Democrats have locked out any republican input. According to Sen. McCain, he has attempted to contact Sen. Reid without any success. He jokingly stated, "they must have lost my number." The left and the right are ridiculous!! Left is brain washed and so is the right!! Sad state of affairs.
