The idea - noble and ambitious. The application of the idea - complete failure. This isn't about options - it's about mandates. Democrat or Republican - doesn't much matter... no one seems to understand what it is the public wants and needs... clueless, all of them. If they can't GET IT RIGHT, then why bother at all? The objective is NOT to make things harder for people. I'm disgusted with the all-around ineptness of our elected officials... all of them.

Article says that Government insurance option will cost consumers more than private coverage - thought this was supposed to cut our insurance premiums??? Requires large companies to cover employees and will subsidize (with our tax dollars) small companies. It will require citizens to carry insurance and will penalize them if they don't. It will expand Medicaid, and of course tax the heck out of those rich people. The insurance companies can't charge more for people who are certain to use insurance the most ie pre-existing conditions and old age. Kind of like when it told lenders they had to loan money to high risk borrowers -- then housing tanked and they had the gaul to blame it on the lenders instead of their stupid regulations. Welcome to the brave new world.
