I agree that our president needs to make his decision on our troops. He either needs to send more, as requested, or he needs to start pulling out. It is a war. We can't leave our troops short staffed.

darned if we do, darned if we don't! I think we need King Solomon in on this!! We spend allot of money so far, and are we farther ahead? I'm not picking sides, but I'm glad pakistan is taken the taliban more seriosly. Disrupting them where they live makes them fight on two fronts!

darla j: I agree with you. The president is very cautious when it comes to the lives of others. Had Lyndon Johnson NOT listened to Gen. Westmorland in the 60's we would have had many fewer casualties than we had. More, more, more, is not always the answer. The president knows that his predicessor made huge deadly mistakes, from errors in judgement and decisions made quickly and irrationally.. He does not want to fall prey to that kind of irrational thinking. From what I understand, the President is applying pressure to our allies, that do not have a presence on the fighting front. Japan, for example cannot, by treaty, have an army but they have a checkbook, and can help with the expense. At this time, they are not contributing. The same goes for China and India. All of these countries have a vested interest in winning the war in Afghanistan, yet they contribute very little if anything, toward the effort. As the president said, we can't do it alone. Those that clamor for action, for the sake of action, have still not learned the deadly and expensive lessons taught us, by the errors in judgement, of the previous administration. The President is determined not to repeat those same mistakes.

If someone knows someone who stole something and was caught and convicted does that made the knower bad also? If someone believes Rush, does that make them also want to use drugs? Kind of a double standard!

Barb, I don't go except for when I am needed there for others, but when I was younger, I was forced. I don't believe in having to be in a man made church to be with God and listening to someone else tell me how, what, and why, on my beliefs.

John, I didn't know this information. Would everyday being in contact be enough or too much? To me, it seems if you had confidence in appointing someone to run the war, let him run the war. Why do you need to look over someone's shoulder, all the time? After reading all the posts, it wouldn't matter what anyone did on anything, it appears to the republican's, no one has any idea what they are doing. Just a different opinion!

darla J: Those that criticize the President for saluting the fallen, are grasping at straws. They can't find anything else to complain about. If he sneezes, they complain. The fact that he was there, says a lot to the fallen families, I know I would have been touched had lil bush met my son's or any of the fallen's coffin, arriving in Dover. To the contrary, what we witnessed was apathy and ignorance by an administration that was clearly out of touch and in a panic mode for the "Pandora's box" they had opened. When asked the number of the current casualty count neither lil bush, nor rumsfeld, had any idea what that number was. The American public was ashamed and outraged and rightfully so. Obama could cure every ill known to man and they would complain that it took him too long. These people voted for the loser and are disgruntled. For them, it will be a very long 8 years.
