Jon T. did you watch the City Council meeting Mon.? If the City tears it down, it could cost the City up to $250,000+! Like this town has that kind of money to toss away, or maybe they do! They don't even own it!

This is probably one of the last "original" churches in Willmar and I am surprised it has lasted as long as it has. Vinje, Calvary, Redeemer, Methodist all have long gone by way of the wrecking ball. Bethel is about the only one left that I can think of. This church was old 40 years ago and without constant upkeep (which it has obviously not had) maybe it's time.

Funny, I didn't see the words "...why didn't it get inspected before it was too late to do anything..." anywhere in your post.

Jon T., I see that you don't read very well! I didn't say anything about the City paying for repairs! DA! What I said was, why didn't it get inspected before it was too late to do anything! By the way, the City wants to beautify the old downtown, so then why is it "their" (the City's) problem when most of it is "Privately" owned!? (As you say!) Do you work for Peterson's? Enough said!!

Why is it up to the city to take care of private property? It is a shame, but if you're so worked up about keeping it, why don't you pay for the repairs Robert?

What a "shame", again another original building of downtown Willmar meets with the same fate as all the others. No one cares until it's too late, so let's "tear" it down. I can't beleive that our "city people" didn't take care of this problem earlier, but then look at the rental history in the last 12 yrs. or less of this original downtown Willmar building. Why does this happen in our "All American City"!? Maybe that's why! It's addressed just like the infra-structure of this town, when it's too late! Again, what a "SHAME"! Maybe there was a deal with Peterson Bros. under the table to "aquire" this property. Is this the first step in "beautifying" old downtown Wilmar?
