Huh, Larry? Tell me this, what 1 good thing can you say about a Democrat? I can say good things about Republicans. I won't hold my breath.

Actually, Jon T, if public officials strictly volunteered their time and efforts, they'd still be the spawn of Satan in some people's minds.

Public service is difficult. It will eat you up and spit you out with little deference.

mike a........you're right, that's from a column by Charley Reese. I only had about thirty seconds at the computer this noon so I had to just paste it the way it was.

Ray J. - while I agree with your comments I think it is always important to acknowledge when the words you type are not your own. I do not know myself who the original source is but I know that I have come across the exact words that you typed in my "in-box" before.

Rebecca "And yes, I know that the Democrats are the spawn of Satan and evil and must have stolen the elections, yadda yadda yadda." - yep that sums it up for how some people do think! (scary)

Oh my gosh, those darn politicians! For heaven's sake people-THEY ARE YOU!! You elected them! If you don't like what they are doing, then don't vote for them again! The whole she-bang was set up this way-2 Senators from each state, a proportionate number of Representatives based on your state's population, and one President. None of them can do anything without the other, to keep the whole system in balance. This way nobody gets to be too powerful. If both houses of Congress and the President are from one party, perhaps that was the wishes of the majority (ya think?) Every one of you complains about politicians, but they are only in office because a majority of people elected them. And yes, I know that the Democrats are the spawn of Satan and evil and must have stolen the elections, yadda yadda yadda. We've all heard that too.

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does. One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices – 545 human beings out of the 300 million – are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

Randy- I have to agree with you there. Both parties got us in this mess. Plenty of blame to go around!
