The I.R.S. takes your money and gives it to people you may not support. Hard for you to understand, Larry?

Larry many of these players have agents who handle their contracts. You can't stand unions because unions stand up to administrators or to owners who break emloyment law. If people are playing by the rules why worry about the union, unless of course you have something to hide. Good unions also side with administrators, if employees are in the wrong rather then waste everyones time and money. Unions furnish attorney's to represent employees something you know little about. Just keep listening to Rush, he will guide you.

It's the owners fault on the big contracts,I have yet to see a gun put to the owners heads to sign the contracts! Why don't the owners get together and say we are not going to pay big money any more?

Oncwe again the most powerful union in america rears its ugly head! Get rid of unions and this country would be a better place! The unions in these sports are killing them. Football will have an uncapped year coming up and you are going to see a huge downswing in salaries! Baseball is the only sport where you get guaranteed money and until the owners tell the players there will be no more guaranteed money this is how the sport of baseball will work.

Yes, it is kind of interesting that most who "kick and scream" about the CEO's will come out and defend the money made by professional sports, movie stars, musicians, ect.

One way or another we all kick in.We all buy products from sponsors that advertise on tv.Its added in to price of cable and sattlelite tv.Seasons get longer to pay salarys. Can't blame the players but none of them are worth what they get paid. Then they all want free stadiums to play in.Why don,t they invest there own money in there profession?

Lynn there is some truth in what you said but it also lies with the genes. People are bigger and faster then those who played in the early days. Research as also allowed people to eat the right foods and take the right vitimans which helps to increase strength and speed. We have 250 pound college linebackers running the 50 in just under five seconds, and we have a good number of guys who can hit 50 or more homers.

Who is more worthy of our ire, overpaid professional athletes or overpaid CEOs?

What do people have against wealth? For example, Mr.Pohlad worked his tail off and was very business savy to grow his wealth into billions. Owners worked hard to get to the point to where they could afford to buy a team. No one handed them anything. The players are paid what the market allows. They perform what a VERY MINUTE portion of society can perform. Are their numbers difficult for the average person like myself to fathom, probably so. But the market dictates what the players are paid and people continue to pay the prices to attend ballgames. Advertisers continue to pay what tv wants to advertise during games etc. It is true that it is expensive to go to a game especially for a beverage and food. The 'price' of tickets in themselves are not that expensive.

Mauer could never take $2 million a year even if he wanted too, the players union would never allow that to happen because it would cheapen everybody elses sallary in the future. Mauer will get paid by someone, I can only hope that the Polads open their checkbooks a little wider for the best catcher in baseball.
