Harold you need to go back to school and learn how to write properly because you don't make any sense. You must be allergic to facts. Explain why when Bush left the unemployment rate was 7.3%. Explain why it isn't Bush's fault for this recession since the recession started in 2007 way before Obama took office. Explain how the 1990's were the longest period of growth for our nation. Explain why Bush was a part and supported a bailout and stimulus package more than once. Explain how ACORN has anything to do with what is going on right now. Explain how Bush started us on this increasing budget deficit of going to war in 2 different countries. I could go on, but in the words of Ricky Ricardo: Harold, "you have a lot of esplaining to do."

Good site Mike. Clinton took over in Jan. 1993 with a 7.3% unemployment and left office at 4.2% Jan. 2001. Bush took over at 4.2% in Jan. 2001 and left at 7.6% in Jan. 2009. Great job Bush!

Here is a good site to look at the unemployment facts dating back to the end of the Clinton Administration. http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/servlet/SurveyOutputServlet?data_tool=latest_numbers&series_id=LNS14000000 Looking at the figures it is not too hard to see the effects of a recession and see the steady increase in unemployment dating back to February 2008. The great thing about this site is the historical data that you can look at very easily. When you do you can see the situation that was occuring back in the '80's and how similar it is to today. President Reagan also had to deal with simialr figures and in fact worse. The good news, we Americans figured out how to get through those difficult years of 1981 - 1983 and we can do it again. At least when people are talking about facts and figures everyone can now see the real numbers and compare hope it is helpful.

The jobless figures are the worst since 1983 when Regan was in office. Obama made the right decision to extend benefits for those who were jobless, hopefully things will start to recover, but in recission the job market is always the last to rebound. Kevin to answer your question there are companies that profited from the stimulus which created jobs or saw laid off workers come back to work. There were companies that failed and went under, while others decided to downsize. This is going to continue to go back, and forth, but just think if there was no stimulus where we might be?

Kevin, lol, gotta go while the weather lets him. I'm a planting and harvest widow. Just have to remind him he's not a young kid anymore and he needs to stop and eat, and rest. Ya, we're getting old(er).

Thanks for the 14 week extension, other states got 20. If our unemployment rate is lower than other states that dosent mean that its eisier to find a job now It means that all the jobs that can be had are taken . Their will be allot of people left out in the cold in 14 weeks . Mabey the state can dig into there stimulus and add 6 more weeks ? If tere are more people working that means that the unemploymet collected from employers is higher too.
