It would be helpful if those discussing political science--had ever taken a class in political science. The political spectrum is like a rainbow, and well documented and agreed upon. For example, if a party has the word "socialist" in it's name, that doesn't mean a thing. The party's standing in history depends on it's respect toward it's: populous, business, industry, and governmental role. "Socialist" associated with the Nazi's was a trick, a ploy aimed towards a down-trodden post WW1 population. It wasn't any more socialist than the moral majority was moral, or the majority. If you bend the political spectrum into a circle, you will find extreme dictatorship (Nazis) butted right up against extreme socialism (Stalinism). Everything I have just stated is fact, not my opinion. Just trying to help with this discussion, going forward.

How anyone can say the Nazi's were the conservatives is absolutely ludicrous! They were the National Socialist Party FCOL! They nationalized businesses and had their private army called the brown shirts. Anyone ever heard that them? And now Obama wants his own private army. Anyone with half a brain can't help but wonder.

Great commentary by Cal Thomas. Liberalism loves socialism, communism and I'm sure they envy even the Nazi's as then the Gov't had complete control. Capitalism and conservatism embraces freedom and liberty for all. With that comes the freedom for everyone to either flourish or flounder --- but as Cal says with the other choice you just have shared misery. The thing the New Democrat party has been very successful at is promoting class envy. The hatred of anyone you "preceive" to have more than you is astonishing. Thus those on this site that continually bash the acheivers and wish to have socialism and share their misery!!!

Todd P: Wasn't it in Nazi Germany that Hitler and the far right radicals, tried arresting all of the scientists and people with a college education? They deemed them as free thinkers, and therefore, threats to the reich. This harkens back to that time. I see distinct similarities between the radical Republican zealots, and the Taliban. Who would have thought in the year 2009, we would be debating the merits of higher education? This is amost funny, were it not true.

Craig H: While I don't read the posts of the character you are referring to, I am not surprised he said what he did. He has kept this forum in stitches for many months. Between he, and ol' Harold, they'll show you how it ought to be. Just hope he doesn't lose his temper, and get thrown off again. If you look at the times of the day, these people are posting, it is unbelievable. They must not sleep. I think they should all get lives.

I agree completely, I read the "college is for liberals" comment too and thought the same thing. College isn't for everyone obviously but it certainly isn't just for Liberals. To assume it is absurd and it shows just how far you've bought into the dumbing down of this country. It is also obvious that the GOP feels the lack of knowledge is power as it does its best to suppress and real thought, ideas, or science in order to keep its base as ignorant as possible. College isn't for liberals, but it does cause people to think for themselves on a wider range of issues and that scares the daylights out of the current group of right wingers running the GOP.

Larry don't call me a liar, you made the comment, and there were others who read the same comment. You suffer from some sort of disorder, called foot in mouth then turn around and lie about your comments you think are forgotten about. When you defend the insurance companies Larry your are bascially saying the hell with the elderly, or the poor. How plain does it have to be. You never admitted Bush was a thief but called Obama and his administration thieves. Brian we spend billions in Iraq yet we can't reform health care because you right wing nuts believe it will not work, that is what the issue is. Common sense is what I call it Brian. Also Brian pizza hardly describes anything about what we are talking, about because people buy pizza based on taste not price. Even if the government produced bread and pizza why couldn't they compete? The government competes with the private prisons and allows them to operate the prisons because they claim they can do it cheaper. Like I stated before the government is one of the biggest employers and pay good wages and good benefits yet people are up in arms about the government competing in health care, That will only happen if the private sector does not make an effort to keep their rates down, which is only fair. More private companies bailed out of the US under Bush and took many jobs with them, so why is that? They didn't want to pay a fair wage, or didn't want to give decent benefits, even when they were given generous tax breaks. Brian why is UPS, and Fed X doing good? Why do other private companies fair pretty good building airplanes and other military equipment for the government? Don't tell me private companies can't compete. Whatever your smoking Brian, sure has your head in a cloud. The radical right simply protect the well to do the people who have money. We all know money is power and the insurance companies are afraid they can't ski behind two yachts, or buy that second million dollar vacation home. Splash some cold water in your face and wakeup, your delusional.

John what is idea about the current health-care? That they can drop you like a rock if your medical issues become more expensive due to no fault of your own? That we have our rates raised every single year along with our raises which really doesn't keep up with inflation? That health-care companies can reward their CEO's millions in bonuses, then expect to pass 18% raise in rates. Lets talk about how insurance companies can say whether someone lives or dies, because they will not pay for transplants. You people are pawns for the big health-care companies, because you people cannot think for yourself, while defending the actions of our current system. You believe anyone who is poor or the elderly, are free loaders just looking to get something else free from the government. Again its your assumption you have no facts, and the messages you put out there don't have a whole lot of logic. All your saying in a nutshell, is that if your well off, why change anything, the rest who have nothing, and are struggling can blame themselves, they are the problem. Larry I don't know what your looking for but answer my question, if the private businesses don't need any government interference, and can do well without the government, then why are they afraid of the government competing? Larry you run with anything the radical right say, which also makes you a puppet. Once again Larry you have no questions and whenever you do its answered. Of course then you resort to calling it liberal information, liberal media, so there is no giving you facts, because you can't handle them. Remember Larry, only liberals attend college, and Schwarzenegger is a Democrat. Oh wait, Libby did not do anything wrong according to you. Just some examples of things you stated without knowing the facts, and shooting from the hip! Obama and his band of thieves giving away our money. Of course I asked you why you didn't call Bush a thief for giving tax payer money away to businesses, and you never answered me.

joe r.........what does health care have to do with the Iraq war? Why is it that people always have to throw that into every response. How much have we spent in Iraq and Afghanistan this year? Do you really think that providing insurance to everyone is actually going to lower premiums? So if my insurance is dropped and I get sucked into the govt plan....will you vow to pay my insurance for the rest of my life? How about paying my increase in insurance costs once the plan takes affect.....step up to the plate, sign a contract with me that states you will pay my insurance if my rates go up under the plan. Why are the thinking people worried about private insurance surviving against a govt plan?????.......try to stay with me on this one as it will be tought to follow.....might require thinking.......ready..........the govt can set any rates they want because they always have their own printing press. Lets take pizza for example, if the govt made pizzas.....no company would be able to compete because they would set the price lower than any other private company because they can always subsidize the cost difference using their printing press or through taxes........thus, the private company would go out of business.........wow.....that certainly was hard to follow.........hope you didn't drift off into loony tunes world.........
