Larry honey-you didn't reference me. You referenced Bob. I just wanted to know what you know, but obviously I am going to get nowhere. You find it easier to slam me for asking you an honest question because you don't like the way I think. Larry-don't bother.

Larry, I think rebecca poses a valid question. You made the comment, maybe you could enlighten all of us, liberals and non-liberals alike. I for one have not read the 1900 pages in the recently passed bill, so if you would share with us, we are waiting.

I do know this is what is being said - on the news by former AMA president. Medicare payments will be heavily cut and subisdies to hospitals will be cut significantly. Hospitals and doctors rely heavily on those payments for their patient population care and to run the hospital. In their place, all the patients will instead have their private or public insurance to pay for things which will be mandatory to have. Those insurance payments are suppose to make up for the steep medicare cuts and cut off of subsidies that hospitals once received from the governement. So now, hospitals are at the mercy of the new system, the insurance required system to fund it properly. How long will it take to enforce the "everyone gets insurance" law and now where will the money be coming from? I think that may be an issue to be concerned with? Can hospitals survive? I don't really know - we should ask our CEO what he thinks.

Larry-why will hospitals be closing? No snark intended-I really want to know what you think. What is in this new bill the house passed that will cause hospitals to close?

The AMA has less than 20% of the nations doctors in it. It used to have up to 90% That speaks volumes about the positions/policies of the AMA and the reality of the practices of medicine and how doctors feel about the AMA. Doctors want quality healthcare for all, cost controlled and lack of coverage to be fixed but that doesn't mean this is the bill to do it. AND notice their is BIPARTISAN support regarding this bill - the bipartisan support is AGAINST IT. AGAIN speaking volumes. Check out the vote in the house. A large number of democrats voted with all but one republican against it. It is downright scary to think of what is coming with this particular bill

Charline - that comment is so baseless. They offer outstanding care, are highly rated and do not have problems that many hospitals do with their care. If you look at the reports statewide and nationally they do very well. The doctors there have excellent training - many coming from the top medical facilities around the country including the Mayo Medical Center, top radiologists and some of the top heart centers. The clinic won't just hire 'any' doctor or keep a doctor/specialist unless they meet a quality care standard. I believe this rural area has outstanding care.
