What is truly amazing and this has been brought forward before when some Republican leaders who were out spoken about gays, and would not sign off on the hate crimes bill, were the ones engaging in sex with gays, the people they condemned, the people they ran their campaigns on. The true hypocrites of the Republican party seem to always quote God and country. In reality it is all about money, sex, and power. When they are caught, they simply resign and nothing more is said. If the Republican party didn't run so strong on family values, and morals, people would not make note of it. But when you tell the voters who you are, and what your about, then venture out after dark to solicit gay sex, or have gay lovers,it stands to reason people will point the finger at the party, and rightfully so!

I would love to know who put this man in charge of whose soul was going to burn! It is not left to him to pass jusdgement on others, even according to his religion! I despise the fact that anyone would think it is okay to damn a person because of their lifestyle choices that would in anyother way not affect your own life! I don't see how one person being gay could alter anothers life. Seems to me that murderers get more consideration than gays. We are taught through religion to love one another....not judge! Those who take it upon themselves to judge others should have more concern for their own souls than that of those they judge! This bill is to make the punishment for these hate crimes to be harsher, not to stifle your own speech. As long as you can cotrol yourself in a way that keeps you human you should be fine. It is your action, not your words that are being punished by this law! I truely hope the writter of this letter does not plan on acting on his words, maybe he should be praying for his own soul and not that of others!

Homosexuality use to be accepted, then Christianity made it's presence known and anything that didn't fit into their little book of "stories" was outlawed or killed off. Christianity was invented by someone about 2,000 years ago. What religions were around before then that were considered to be the "right" religion? If Adam and Eve were the first two people on Earth and they marked the start of man, why wasn't Christianity the only religion. That's because religions were made up by man, not God or Christ or any other imaginary figure. It's man that made religion, and when that religion did not fit into their world they split apart from that religion and started a new one of their own... This has been the way religion works since the begining of religion. Take the recent changes to the ELCA that allowed homosexuals to be pastors. Now half of the church is talking about breaking apart to form a new religion. This is going to continue until religion eventually fades away.

This letter sounds like it was written by someone who believe's that his rights are being violated because the church/others are not going to be able to easily attack homosexuals anymore. Homosexuals do not need to be saved. According to your religion homosexuals are going to burn. Who made your religion the right one? Religion sometimes is ignorance! Homosexuals do not need people who do not agree with their lifestyles telling them how to live their lives and vice versa. The reason these laws are passed is because your religion teaches you to hate/torture/kill/bully homosexuals. If you people would understand that it's God's job to pass judgement and not your own, people like me wouldn't need these types of protection. Not that I need protection. I've had a few people bully me when I was out at a restaurant or bar and before I had the chance to defend myself, the staff would have either had that person thrown out or someone that knew me was half way through their opinion of that person's ignorance.

We've been through this before, you and I. I see you as homophobic hiding behind your religious "card" as you so aptly put it.JMO

Mr. Young is concerned about the freedom of speech to what? Speak out against homosexuals?...bullying? And his concern for those "souls" is touching. You can't disguise homophobia.

I guess having your jollies, despite the rights of others, is today's idea of good citizenship.
