Like I stated yesterday, I grew up in that small town, and have nothing but great respect for Les Jr. Was a mistake made?? More than likely. Do small town folks LOVE LOVE LOVE gossip? Yep. Les Jr. is a GREAT cop, any town would be more than lucky to have him. If this was attemted murder, or rape, or armed assault, yah, it would be different. The spiteful side of my brain would like to see Danube lose Les as their cop, and watch them squirm when they get a replacement that isn't one tenth as good, and writes tickets for sneezing. (Lots of small town cops LOVE the power.) Slap him on the wrist, like he deserves. For Danube to get rid of him would be the stupidest thing they could do. Anyone who doesn't believe me should go to Danube, and see what a great job he does, and ask around about him. 98% of the people have tremendous respect for him. The two percent who don't likely have a DUI from him.

Olivia has a few members who would cover the backsides of their friends as well....I think every small town has people like that on their council....cover the mistakes of friends, deny new business coming in that might affect the business of a friend, etc. I'm sure the same happens in 'large towns/cities, its just not as noticable. Les Jr should have volunteered to take the leave, and his father should not have been involved in discussions....they've made a mistake that will follow them the rest of their days in Danube.

I agree with you Larry, the whole political affiliation involvement into topics that are not about political parties is getting OLD! Even if it is a joke, it is no longer funny...over usage kills anything humorous about it.

If this had been handled appropriately from the get go , the city would be much better off. The son should have been put on administrative leave and the father should have recused himself from any discussion about the case by the City Council.

He should have no better treatment than anyone else who has stolen from a business-they are terminated! Just because he is a police officer makes him no better than anyone else who steals-even if they did pay it back- If memory serves me right there is a bank in Danube that he could have went to and got a loan just like everyone else has to do when finances are low. It is unfortunate that his Father had to resign because of this I think from the begining he should have stepped aside and let the rest of the council do thier job.
