Joe- Are you for real? You are complaining about high energy prices. First Obama stated at the time of high prices he didn't mind the high prices only how fast they got there. Second do you think cap and trade lowers prices? I have heard the cost to be about $1800 per year for starters only to rasie to over $3000 per year after 10 years. Do you know the difference bettween somebody raising thier prices and forced coverage?

The laws of this country state, clearly, that individuals charged with terrorism are to be tried in Federal court. Would you prefer that our government circumvent federal law?? And that evidence, Barb, was collected, in part, by waterboarding Khalid Sheik Mohammed 183 times over the course of his imprisonment. Don't get me wrong... I am not sympathizing with the man... simply pointing out that evidence collected under duress isn't typically considered to be very credible in a USA court of law... and that's not my doing, or your doing - that's the way things work in this country. You said it yourself - federal law is constrained by the US Constitution - you can't cherry pick where that constraint is or is not to apply... can you?

tom b: you may be right, but the world is still doubled over with laughter at the past 8 years. We looked pretty foolish the day those towers came tumbling down, especially when we were made aware of the warnings received.

So when bo brings the terrorists here to try and they have access to ALL of the rights afforded US citizens that includes the right to have access to all of the evidence and how it was abtained, thereby giving up whatever secret sources and methods of obtaining evidence. The US will even have to give up classified information and if we don't the terrorists will get off scott free. Is that what you want? Please stop refering to the Geneva Convention - it DOES NOT APPLY HERE. THAT ONLY APPLIES TO A COUNTRY'S UNIFORMED SOLDIERS. Please go study some history. To equate mandatory auto insurance and health insurance is a red herring. Auto insurance is to protect the person or property you harm. It is NOT to protect puruchaser unless you CHOOSE to buy that. Besides, it is mandated by the state not the federal government. Will those of you who don't recognize the difference please get a civics lesson from an honest source! States can pass all kinds of laws but the federal government is constrained, or at least it is suppose to be, but the US Constitution.

Sam where in the constitution does it say we can't bring forth health care reform? Now some of the right want to use the constitution as a road block for health care reform competing with the rest of the private sector because its the government. People receive tickets, and fines for everything from litter to junk in their own personal property. The state and cities have ordiances of their own for a great many things and the constitution has nothing to do with the way we govern city or state. The government is for the people, which is what is in the constitition, yet the right complain right away when it doesn't work for the them, then they turn to the constitution. Sam did you raise that question when the gas prices were at four dollars a gallon, and companies were raising the rates when the winds blow? Did you raise the question of the constitution when executives inflated stock options, then bailed out rich putting people out of work? I guess with the constitution they have all the right in the world to be as wealthy as they want to, no matter what rates they set and what people end up having no health care because of it. How about all those executives for the health care industry giving themsleves millions in bonuses, while they raise our rates to pay for it? The private sector just about does whatever they want to, and if it wasn't for the AG it would be worst, so where is the constititution now Sam?

The outrage and fear being displayed by the "right" is totally justified. They know that if the terrorists are put on trial, the abandonment of rule and law suffered under the last administration will be allowed to resurface. After a globally embarrassing reaction to 9/11 (i.e. stopping short in Tora Bora to invade the wrong country, sacrificing thousands of our best and brightest over a lie in Iraq, and completely abandoning the Geneva Conventions) one can see why the Republicans are so afraid! President GWB promised to hunt Bin Laden to the gates of hell - I guess those gates must be somewhere outside a retirement community in Crawford Texas. What a waste.

Cathy- Around here many do drive. In large cities many do not. Again I ask, where in the constitution does it give the power to force healthcare? Nobody has yet to answer that. Ms Pelosci asked "is that a real question"? The talking points coming from the dems are hogwash. Who decides what a acceptable policy is? It has been deemed unacceptable to have anything but full coverage healthcare instead of a cheaper version. If you can't see the lies coming from the dems then statements like "a crisis should not be wasted" do not bother you at all. In a recent poll there are 40% conservatives 20% liberals and 36% independents. Remember Jimmy Carter? He won 5 or 6 states when running for 2nd term. Will Obama bow to the next president?
