The driving skills of people in general are very low in Willmar. I do not personally know this man, but I have seen him and his dog out and about, traveling carefully. I sincerely hope and pray that he pulls through. One thing I absolutely do know: All persons operating vehicles in Willmar should be prepared to yield to pedestrians, whether they be children, elderly, sighted or handicapped. Too many drivers are preoccupied and drive as though any obstacle in their way should be removed in order to give their travels priority. 19th Ave, in and of itself, is a lengthy death trap, so we try to transport our Middle school student as much as possible, as the two-mile limit for busing ends SOUTH of 19th on the SE side. At any rate, leaving an accident until told by law enforcement is illegal, not just for parties involved, but also bystanders.witnesses. Period, no exceptions.

If this moron is a dentist, I'd hate to be his patient. Upon his recovery, looks like Mr. Sykora may just end up owning a dental office.

There's a problem using the word accident in this type of incident. An accident is something that could not have been avoided and was going to happen regardless of the precautions taken. So, I suppose "accident" could be used for the victim. However, for the driver, this was a 100% preventable incident and should not have happened. That said, I would hope that the driver is praying like mad that Mr. Sykora makes it lest this "accident" become vehicular homicide. I know that my prayers are with Mr. Sykora and his family.

Roger, He is on probation for driving while intoxicated and improper pass on right. I don't think this guy even deserves his license anymore. My thoughts and prayers are with you Thomas, and your family!

Tom is a great human being. Its been a pleasure to get to know him and my thoughts and prayers are with him. As for the man who hit him, from what i understand he is a dentist here in town?. I hope he understands the consequences of leaving the scene of an accident and is charged for his crime of doing so.

I understand that he left the scene what I'm saying is when did he leave the scene? like I said, he had to be very shaken up over what had just happened, maybe he thought he was done there, maybe he did run right away I don't know and neither do you, but we can't just make assumptions, all I'm saying is no one knows the whole story yet and we shouldn't jump to conclusions, how would you feel if you were in a similar situation and people were saying these things about you? Wouldn't you feel bad enough on your own without a bunch of strangers making it worse? It was a terrible accident....keyword ACCIDENT as in unintentional.

Tom, you're right, it's illegal for anybody, even those not involved, to not stop at an accident before help arrives.

How sad, I hope he's going to be alright. Is this the same man and dog that got stuck in the snow by Walmart?
