I once heard from someone I know that he applied at Jenni-O (who is a white american) that he was told that they were not hiring but then sat in the parking lot and the next hispanic to come in was hired. Is it true that Jenni-o only pays half the salary and the state pays the other half if a person of a different race is hired? I would like to really know because that is also what I heard.

Actually, the wages aren't that bad. Where else can you get a job that includes affordable health and dental insurance and $10.00 an hour starting wages and you don't even need a high school diploma? Granted, it's hard work, but it's honest work. You don't need specialized training, and if you get some you can move up the ladder. Why more people don't apply and work there I don't understand. There are enough different shifts that it can accomodate many schedules. As for "living wage", that's probably being redefined in our society. IF you have enough to put a roof over your head and have a car that runs (with heat in our MN winters!) and puts food on the table then you have it pretty good. I wouldn't be so quick to put down Jennie-O.

Sergio illustrates this point flawlessly: We have an immigration problem.

When will congress wake up and put very stiff fines on businesses that hire illeagle aliens. It is the only way this drain on the economy will be stopped. If the jobs dry up they won't come. We are all paying the price for these greedy businesses to not pay a proper wage to there workers.

Back the truck up. Where are the illegal charges? Isn't being here illegally a crime?
