A guy walks into the Doctor's Office, complaining of an illness. The Doctor says to him ,"Sir, you have a condition known as 'Tom Jones Disease'" The patient asks, "Tom Jones Disease! Is that rare?" The Doctor says, "It's not unusual."

The reason we don't have these shots is becuse they come from overseas. Other countries make these shots for us becuse Clinton thought it would be a good idea to take the profit out of the shots. Yes big goverment failed in all its wisdom again.

Typical *beep* federal vaccinations have been about equal between DEM or REPUB administrations. Only difference is the lack of timely performance by the current one... Research it... Time of Federal money to people receiving... very Poor performance this year... sorry... Had a years notice on H1N1...and the Vaccination percentage? Not good... I hope we dodge this bullet... but it was Katrina times 5000 in the making. We got (or will be) lucky I hope. But will we be so lucky the next go around??

Vaccines have never been part of the constitution, as Govt mandated healthcare has never been in it either. Vaccines, in time of epidemics, have been procured for the general public by federal action. Remember smallpox, polio, swine flu shots-- you received in mass vaccinations in school-- or you too young/old to remember? Several 100's of Millions of $$$ were spent to create Nationwide vaccination for H1N1 this year. Of that goal, how many have actually received the vaccine? 8%, 12%, 15%?? I just hope we have dodged a bullet on this one. Yes Govt initiated a course of action. Govt spent alot of money on this. But Govt failed to get things done in a timely fashion. So lets blame the lab companies I guess....Maybe Bush owns them too-- just like oil! So in the end, Govt will save us all ?? Now you get the drift?

Brett - the government doesn't produce the vaccine... labs develope it, production facilities produce it... and they're doing so with methods that are over 50 years old. I can't imagine that the ability to mass produce is a process that suits society today - you know, the information era... where everything is streaming live, via web and cable... It's past time that methods were developed that are capable of meeting demand. Honestly, no one notices an outdated system until it fails to meet needs... vaccine production is outdated, but no one cared to work on updating it, for the past 50+ years. All this modern technology, globally, and none of it has been applied to vaccine production techniques... hindsight's a real you-know-what, I guess...

Very good news... Hopefully rates will continue to decline. This flu had the potential to be much worse and our Govt failed to respond in a timely fashion. We had almost 1 yrs notice, and still only vaccines are dribbling in to clinics as we speak. We may have dodged a bullet... but next time we so lucky??
