Yes Larry we gave thanks but if not for the native Americans who helped our kind survive the bitter winters, and who opened their arms to us weary settlers, who knows what this country would have become? We rewarded the native Americans by taking their land, as we tried to transform their way of life to ours, sometimes by force. Read your history Larry, its not all roses. Remember Larry we told the story of how it was, not the native Americans, and we sometimes have found the stories have had the facts left out.

Perhaps it was his inherent assertion that his way is the only "correct" way.

Miigwech, Helma. I used to do the trifecta (lived on White Earth, worked near Red Lake, 2nd summer job at a resort on Leech Lake). Jim's brand of sanctimony betrays his ignorance.

Touche, to quote the french, Mr. Jim L.D. Your kind of politically correct? thanks we do not need. I'm Red Lake Ojibwe 'full blood' that does not celebrate 'thanksgiving' holiday. Instead my family celebrates 'thanksgiving' every day of the year because we are so thankful we too have our own Manido we say miigwech to where ever we are. Not in some church on a certain day of the week, but we do every day. I suffered religious persecution at the Ponemah school in the 1940s(yes 1940s) so I know a little of the white mans relligion. The 'god' you speak of may be the same 'god' we worship, who knows? I believe Tommy J who stated when he explained who our 'god' is. He called him 'the man upstairs'. You and your society are in need of history of the Indigenous people. We are a rich people. You are the poor. Helma Cloud Erle responsible for content, which may not be the views of the tribal nation.
