The proposed veterans' home is NOT a VA (federal) facility - it would be the sixth Minnesota Veterans Home, operated by the state of Minnesota. The existing five veterans homes are under the supervision of the Commissioner of Veterans' Affairs in the Minnesota Department of Veterans' Affairs. The Montevideo facility is a community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC) of the VA (Federal) Department of Veterans' Affairs health care system. Building another MN Veterans Home requires state funding for operating on a continuing basis, in addition to the funds (bonding) needed to build the facility. Finding the funding for a new operation is very challenging given the current state of the state's budget and projected revenue. l

It seems to me the Lords of the Willmar business world have failed to generate the jobs and much needed manufacturing which the city could use. Certain buisnessess have been snubbed and not allowed to set up shop in willmar and I feel its because some of the businesses lords have a conflict of interest going on and will not allow certain competition to come into Willmar. A VA hosiptal means more employment for doctors, nurses, and other workers and would probably get a decent wage, we need someone to step up to the plate and make it happen!
