I THOUGHT OF ONE LUKE! We have to thank Obama/Pelosi/Reid for giving conservatives and Tea Party members a wake up call!

Bill h and Luke, Maybe you two should get a room! Interesting how libs always love to agree with each other, then pretend they are 'middle of the road, common sense ideas that anyone and everyone should agree with. Amazing! Luke, do you honestly believe that your post at 6.59 was middle of the road? AND anyone that disagreed with that disagreed because they 'just don't want to?' Are you serious?

bill h would not recognize "truth" or "reason" if they walked up and hit him in the head with a 2 X 4

Luke J; you speak the truth. You are truly the voice of reason, something this forum has lacked for months. There are plenty on both sides who have nothing to do, and all day to do it. They seem to delight in their blather on this forum and seem think if they repeat it enough times, it will become the truth. The truth lies somewhere in between "oxi rush's" drug induced rants and Fargo's own Ed Shultz. Most would make neither a good terrorist, nor a good patriot. Both take courage.

1. Unemployment continues to rise, was it Tarp under Bush that slowed the recession or the stimulus package? There is no direct correlation between the slowdown in the recession and either program. 2. Free markets should have been left to work out the solution. Would not have been necessary had the government reined them in instead of allowing Freddie Mac and Fannie May to back worthless mortgages and resell them to the markets. 3. Gift package for the unions. 4. I’m not sure I agree, this is personal opinion, but isn’t this all opinion. I see no stats or facts in your post or mine. 5. I haven’t seen any changes yet. 6. Focus was already shifting and he took too long to send the troops while he “re-evaluated” strategy. 7. You have been to Iran and N Korea to verify this? These are all based on your perceptions Luke, I don’t agree. When I actually see something positive happen I will re-evaluate. When he actually accomplishes something on his own instead of being a “helper”, let me know.

Well, Rick, I must respectfully disagree. And I bet if you were honest you could find at least one thing the Obama Administration has done with which you agree. Here's a few just off the top of my head - The Obama Adm. has 1. helped slow down the recession; 2. helped save Wall Street; 3. helped save the collapse of the Auto Industry; 4. Kept Robert Gates on as Defense Sec.; 5. Named Sec. of Education Duncan, who is not afraid to bring about change, reform etc. even if it means taking on teacher's unions; 6. Sent troops to Afghanistan, shifted the focus of war from Iraq to Afghanistan; 7. helped to relax anti-American attitudes throughout the world - that's seven without even really trying. I think you need to try a little harder. If I can find things I like that the Bush adm. did, you can find things positive that Obama adm. has done. Could just be you don't want to....

"Surely, even the most hard-care conservative has to find at least some things they like that the Obama administration has done/tried to do" so give me some examples Luke, I can't think of any so far.

Brett i would agree with some of what you wrote. Just as Reagan couldn't keep on blaming Carter, and Bush couldn't keep on blaming Clinton, Obama shouldn't keep on blaming Bush. Bush isn't President anymore. As I said Bush had good points just as Obama has good points. Surely, even the most hard-care conservative has to find at least some things they like that the Obama administration has done/tried to do. The point again is let's rachet down the extremism and deep partisanship and work together. I think legislators used to be able to work across the aisle more than they now do. I think if we try we can agree on more than we disagree.

It's no secret that I am generally left of center on many issues. However, as I recently wrote on another post I am going to make a concerted effort to change my tune and change my ways. I can get caught up in all of this writing and blogging as much as anyone else, try to write good posts that point out my views and why they are better than the opposition, etc., but what is the point? I'm not going to convince most others. From now on I am going to try and support candidates and agree with those who post who truly want to solve problems rather than engage in partisan bickering. Healthy and honest debate is fine, but I think the hate-filled rantings need to stop. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. Basically, we all want the same things - to live in a free country, worship if and as we choose, good schools for our children and grandchldren, good paying jobs, health insurance, a home to live in and a car to drive, health, happiness, etc. We have differing ideas of how to achieve these things, but I think we need to build consensus, compromise when and where we can,, agree to disagree without being disagreeable. Enough of the extremism on both sides. We need to remembrer that we are all in this together. This is my rant for the day.
