Apparently Senator Langseth has lowered the prevailing wage rates in government contracts to say costs are 10 to 20% lower since salaries and benefits usually make up the greater portion of the costs. I have noticed some lower costs in materials but not that much. Since most construction companies are looking and searching for work, the result of many out of state companies to bid on work may not be what we want. Example of a $96 million water treatment plant in South Dakota, was bid at $61 million and won by a Missouri company.
