Lynn W. Would you please clarify your comment that 'respect is earned and not bestowed', as it relates to President Obama? Thank you

John many have said that those comments were not appropriate but at some point here people are going to have to take the wise counsel of those who have come before us. "Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right" Its time to show respect from to and from both sides of the aisle. Can't we see what this negative and attacking approach is doing to our Government and our Country?! We have got put America first and not the platform of the Republican or Democratic party. This win our sides opinion at all cost only spells that America loses! Karen T. Harold likes to claim that he is a patriot and has even stated that he is a Veteran. Well my father is Veteran of WWII and I know that there have been several Presidents that he disliked, but he would NEVER say the things that Harold does because like he taught us, The Presidency is a position that we respect, we can disagree with the man in the office, but we should never insult the President, instead simply vote for another the next election.

Just what was it again that we won during the civil war, besides grid lock.

John S., Quite simply, in response to your first question; I have recently, since around November or December of '09 started participating by adding a comment now and then to various news stories on this site. Had I witnessed the various names you have listed that were used to refer to President Bush, I am fairly certain that I would have requested that the he or she 'consider' the use of a more appropriate title(in my opinion) to reflect the respect given to the office of the presidency and the person who occupies the title. Secondly, I am simply stating a question that includes a request to 'consider' the use of 'pres' over pres b o . And, I have not registered a complaint, I have merely requested the consideration to change, in most cases the use of a noun to perhaps another noun or preferably a proper noun.

Harold, am I the only person who finds the way you address the president of our country in all of your posts somewhat distracting? You're referring to President Obama as pres b o, and in my opinion it does not show him the respect that he is entitled to as our president. Would you ever consider calling him just our 'pres'?

It also seems the republican's forgot what the word bipartisan means when they were in control. We're going down for the third time and no one wants to work together. We'll get what we deserve a broke, dysfunctional country!
